Hello again,
It has been a little while since I’ve posted on here so I thought I should talk about our most recent assignment. So, in this assignment we had to create a magazine cover on Adobe InDesign, and the cover had to follow the magazine conventions. In class we used this photo below with the pink border to cover the magazine terms, but I also put another image which is bordered in red. That image gives the terms to help understand what they are.

So, on my cover I had to pick a genre for my magazine, and I chose to make it a food magazine. I chose a magazine. We had to use a photo we took so I thought of this photo I took at a sushi restaurant to be my main image. I then made the magazine have a featured article about the restaurant as well as two coverlines where one talked about effective ways to clean your kitchen and the other talked about what is happening to service quality in restaurants. We also had to put a puff/plug and a stripe/banner which I put in the magazine. To meet all the conventions, I added a barcode and the dateline. These conventions help in conveying the genre of a food magazine by relating the topics on the magazine relate to food.
While creating this cover, there were some challenges for me. I felt the font choices could have matched more or have looked more cohesive since it makes them look random instead of cohesive. For successes, I thought my masthead was good and makes the cover stand out immediately. With this knowledge, I hope it will help me learn about the conventions of a magazine, which also helps for the protflio since I learn what conventions I would have to use to make the magazine if I choose to do it for the portfolio. This also gives me a little starting point on what to do for creating a magazine.
Anyways, here below is the final product and hopefully I'll have more magazines to show you. For now enjoy this and next time I will make it better.
